About James Cornwell, aka Sir Bjorn
James Cornwell, who teaches under the name Sir
Bjorn, began studying the art of medieval armored
combat in the
Society for Creative Anachronism
(SCA) in 1988, and has been training and teaching
the art ever since.  He was awarded the title of Knight
from the SCA, for his skills in and the teaching of
medieval swordsmanship, in January of 2004.  

Sir Bjorn has been involved in education for nearly
his entire professional life.  He earned his Bachelor of
Arts in English with a focus in secondary education
in 1993 from California State University Chico.  In
addition, along the way he has been an at-risk youth
mentor, a secondary-school tutor, a tutoring
program administrator, and an employment coach for
developmentally disabled people.  He has taught
workshops at the
International Congress on Medieval
Studies in Kalamazoo, Michigan at Western Michigan
University, and has been a special presenter on
medieval history and culture in Butte County
seventh-grade classrooms since 1991.

Sir Bjorn lives in Chico with his wife, ten-year-old
daughter, two nieces, one nephew-in-law-to-be, and
entirely too many cats, fish, frogs, and other
underwater life.
